The Moderator of the Uniting Church, Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, the Rev. Jason Kioa will be an honorary guest at the Central Mallee Cooperative Parish (CMCP) in Ouyen this weekend.

The CMCP was formed when the Anglican and Uniting Church congregations amalgamated in 1994.

Mr Kioa said “I am eager to meet the people of this cooperative parish; those that have stood side by side in fellowship and community.”

“I am excited and honoured to celebrate such a community” he said.

Mr Kioa’s visit will be marked by a shared tea at the CMCP centre on Saturday evening. Members of the CMCP, Patchewollock, Underbool and Walpeup congregations will be in attendance.

On Sunday, Mr Kioa will partake in a parish service at 10.30am at the All Saints Ouyen church. A shared lunch will follow.

Accredited Lay Preacher of the Uniting Church, Lin Williams said “so much of Mallee life centres on eating. Fellowship and hospitality are typical characteristics of people living in the Mallee.”

The CMCP’s newly formed choir will perform for the Moderator at the parish service on Sunday.
